Since 1999, Ron Hook has been a technician in the Dosatron Service Department at Bell-Booth. During his time at the workbench Ron has cleaned and serviced many thousands of Dosatrons.

“We’ve had a number of phone calls for Ron in the past few days", says Stephen Bell-Booth, "from farmers who have so appreciated Ron's care and attention to detail when servicing their valuable dispenser. It’s not only the staff at Bell-Booth who will miss his friendly and fun remarks, Ron has a wicked sense of humour”.

What do Auckland property prices and this couple’s heifer development program have in common?
In 2009, Grant & Danielle Petterd randomly selected 29 calves out of the 78 replacements born that spring and raised them on the Queen of Calves program. The remaining 49 calves were raised on an identical nutrition program of milk & calfmeal but minus the daily addition of Queen of Calves to the milk.

After a challenging dairy season and summer, some of our staff were rewarded with a bridge climb in Auckland in celebration of our flagship product, Queen of Calves. Among the climbers were some of our managers, CEO and 5 deserving Product Specialists.

New Zealand may have a chance to break into the $1.6 billion seaweed industry thanks to research that could help make the sushi ingredient more productive to farm.

A breakthrough in 15 years of research by New Zealand scientists has unlocked new information about the most well-known red seaweed in the world, known as nori in Japanese and karengo in Maori.

The seaweed and other closely related species, which are used to make sushi, are highly prized worldwide. They are harvested from the wild and are also farmed.

The NZ Dairy Event website is now up and running, although for some sections it's work in progress the Schedule of Classes and the entry form is now on line.

Congratulations to Heather Brown on winning the 2017 Queen of Calves spring promo, Win a set of latest-generation Gallagher weighscales.

Beginning with a trial mob in 2003, Heather has raised her herd-replacements on the Queen of Calves program for 11 years.

With horrid payout conditions in 2009, Heather made a cost-cutting decision to, delete Queen of Calves from the calf-rearing program for 2009 and 2010 years, and raise them on a conventional diet. But around about Christmas of 2010 when she had observed the 2009 yearlings and 2010 weaned-calves, she made the decision to “never raise another calf again, without Queen of Calves.”

Heather has stuck to her pledge and raised them all on our program since 2011. She says “This year’s calves are amazing. I’ve already weaned 100 of the 130 raised, with the remaining 30 to be weaned next week,” (last week October 2017). “The thing about Queen of Calves is, not only do they make rapid, early growth, they do not undergo a weaning check. They just keep on growing. They are just so much better developed.”
