April 2009 Recent research by Massey University shows calves raised on a Queen of Calves Program grew 10% more per day compared to calves raised on an identical diet but minus the daily addition of ‘Queen of Calves’. These calves reached the target weaning weight just under 8 days earlier; they were significantly bigger animals (hip width measured at 12 weeks); the feed conversion efficiency was enhanced to the extent that the calves consumed 16% less meal during the birth-weaning phase, compared to untreated calves to achieve target liveweight. |
